The code-operated locking mechanism has a control circuit with a main switch and eleven coding switches fitted on the baseplate and with stems penetrating the door. The inside end of each coding switch is of a conducting material and connects contact plates when the conducting inside end is pushed against the plates. The plates are anchored at points connected to two sets of pins. The pins are connected with each other and to input and output pins making a variation of coding signals possible. When the correct sequence of signals is fed into the system current flows from the main switch and a spring loaded contact element to the input pin.
