Electro:optical display unit - has semitransparent mirror behind display cell enabling reading by night and day

An electro-optical display unit has a light screen, a semi-transparent mirror (5) behind the display cell (1) and a light source (6). The mirror is trasparent for at least a part of the wavelengths of the light emitted by the source. Owing to its transparency reading of the display is possible at night, and owing to its reflectivity it can be read in daylight. The mirror (5) can be such that it reflects the light beams of longest wavelength i.e. red yellow and part of the green, and accepts the smaller wavelengths, i.e. the rest of the green and the blue.
