Then motor vehicle lifting platform has arms which rotate in a horizontal plane. The arms have clamps preventing this rotation. Actuating bars pivoted parallel to arms are used to operate clamps. Theclamping mechanism has a bracket arm (9) held on a swivel arm (1) at right angles. This bracket has a downwards narrowing seat (6) for the clamping bar (3). The bracket arm (9) supports the tapering seat assembly with a pivot pin (9). The load carrying swivelling arms (1) is rotated by actuating and clamping bar when the latter is lifted upwards in its seat for releasing. When the arm has reached its position then the bar is pushed downwards into a jammed position. The clamp actuation is of relatively simple design and clamps are readily actuated.
