Breast prosthesis comprising cup-shaped silicone rubber bodies - sealed into plastics film, made by fixing two seam-welded films in mould, pressure-filling the resulting envelope and vulcanising

Mfr. of (female) breast prostheses from suitably cup-shaped bodies, welded into plastics film, and made of addn, - crosslinkable 2-component silicone rubber, is claimed. Two flat films forming the envelope for the prosthesis are welded together along the intended edge of the prosthesis, leaving a filling opening, and are fixed, along the weld seam, upon the edge of a mould cavity. The mould is closed by a cover which corresponds with that portion facing the mould cavity, to the intended configuration of the rear of the prosthesis. A 2-component, silicone rubber, moulding cpd. is forced, under pressure, through the opening left between the 2-welded-together films until they are pressed against the walls of the mould cavity. The moulding cpd. is then vulcanised, in the mould, at 100-150 degrees C, and the opening of the envelope sealed off. The resulting prosthesis is free of undesirable bubbles and voids. Welding seams are clean, without risk of moulding cpd. oozing from the envelope during moulding/vulcanising.
