摘要
Waste water contg. phenol, phenol derivs. or phenol and formaldehyde is purified by adding 0.5-2 g./l. of a Na ethylenediamine tetraacetate/iron (III) trihydrate complex (C10H12N2/8FeNa.3H2O) followed by treating the water with H2O2. The process is used to treat water from phenol, coke and gas mfr., from low temp. lignite carbonisation and esp. from prodn. of phenol/formaldehyde resins. The process is cheap, completely effective, and does not require large amts. of added salts, unlike previous processes. The amt. of complex iron salt is pref. 1-2g./l. The pH used is pref. 8. The amt. of H2O2 used is pref. 8 mols./mol. phenol cpd. or 10 mols./mol. where formaldehyde is also present. The phenol content of the water is pref. =0.5% and formaldehyde =5%.
