The machine tool accessory is clamped e.g. in the tool chuck (22) of a milling machine (21). A workpiece (19) is mounted on the work table (20) of the machine, which can be moved along three coordinates. A scriber (1) which is mounted in the accessory can be swung with its mounting (2) about the vertical axis of the tool chuck. The scribber can also slide in its longitudinal direction in a guide in its mounting block. The section of the scriber is square or rectangular, so that it cannot rotate about its own axis. The mounting block for the scriber can further rotate about a pivot, the centreline of which is at right angles to the centreline of the tool chuck.
