The transportable observation tower is mounted on parallel struts (3, 4, 5, 6) which fold the tower down onto a trailer chassis (2) for towing behind a car. The tower is erected by a cable winch (7) which pulls up the struts. The winch dispenses with complex hydraulic struts so that a simple and light construction is obtained, independent of any servo supplies.
