Furniture such as cupboards or cabinets is delivered from a continuously moving conveyor to a second conveyor driven by an electric motor. A framework is built over the conveyor and supports three pressures plates (8) by pantograph linkages. These linkages are actuated by hydraulic jacks and apply pressure to the faces of the furniture so that the separate panels are bonded together by previously applied adhesive. The links have longitudinal slots which enable the pressure plates to follow the furniture (4) as it travels on the conveyor. The pressure plates are then withdrawn and move to the other end of the frame to receive the next piece of furniture.
