Thermostable mouldable aliphatic polyesteramide alternating copolymers - obtd. by polycondensation of di:carboxylic polyamide with alkylene glycol

Alternating aliphatic copolyesteramides of formula:-HO -(CO-A COO-B-O nH (I) are new. In the formula, A is an aliphatic linear polyamide with terminal ester or carboxylic acid gps. and of mol wt. 300-1000; B is 2-12 C alkylene and n is an integer. Wt. ratio of polyester blocks to polyamide blocks is 0.2-0.8. (I) has a Vicat pt. of 110-120 degrees C, an etension at flow threshold of 10-20% and a Clash and Berg torsion modulus G of 300-1800 at 20 degrees C. The compsn. is used for moulding. It is thermally stable and the compsn. of the polyamide remains unchanged during prepn. of the copolyesteramide and during processing.
