The tool has a deep hollow into which the point of the ampoule is inserted, and is held between finger and thumb while the point is bent and broken off. The deep hollw is pref. conical with transverse ribbing; its depth is suited to the prepared line of weakness, if the ampoule point was made with one. The tool may be made of two parts hinged together, each contg. one side of the conical hollow. Such a realisation is pref. made, e.g. by injection moulding, in a single piece of plastic, with a line of thinner material to form the hinge.
