DRIVE ARRANGEMENT FOR SETTINGMECHANICAL APPARATUS, ESPECIALLY THERMOSTATSAbstract of the DisclosureThe specification discloses a drive arrangementfor a thermostat or the like. The drive arrangement includesa shaft located in a bearing in a housing in such a way thatone end of the shaft extends out of the housing and is fittedwith a knob or the like for twisting the shaft in the bearing.The other end of the shaft has a collar extending through adisc-like cam. The cam receives the collar through a borehaving a slot extending radially therefrom. The protrudingend of the collar is expanded by a punch or the like and,since the material of the cam is harder than that of theshaft, the slot in the cam acts as a die and cuts out a tabfrom the shaft material, which extends into the slot andsecurely fixes the cam to the shaft. In this way the shaftand cam can be simply and securely fixed together in a veryeconomical manner so that torsional slipping therebetween canbe avoided.
