In a method for cleansing and sanitizing the outer surfaces of foods, food such as meat is treated with an aqueous solution containing surfactants, dispersants, wetting, agents sequestering agents and anti- dehydrating agents, as well as buffers and inorganic salts in order to remove all dirt and bacterial and/or chemical pollutants.
