1455281 Air filter INTENSIV-FILTER GmbH & CO KG 24 Oct 1973 [23 June 1973] 49595/73 Heading BIT [Also in Division Fl] Filter apparatus, for removal of dust from gases, comprises a housing 10 divided by partition 13 into dirty-gas chamber 11 and clean-gas chamber 12, communicating by way of a plurality of filter tubes 20 each having an open-end opening into the clean gas chamber and an injector 23 associated with the open end for supply of reverse flow blasts of cleaning gas, wherein each injector comprises a tubular body 24 (Fig. 2) having a nozzle 25 at one end in the form of an annular slit 26 of minimum width 1 mm opening into the body and communicating with a source of compressed gas which is fed tangentially to the interior of the nozzle to issue from slit 26 with a rotary motion and entrain a stream of secondary gas 37 from the clean-air chamber. Suitably the injectors are mounted concentrically with the filter tubes and have flared lower ends 246 to direct gas flow towards the tube walls. The filter housing may decrease in width towards its lower end to aid dust separation and contains a baffle 16 opposed to the dirty-gas inlet 14. The filter tubes may be felt tubes on supporting wire frames. The tubes may be cleaned in series every 50 to 300 secs with a cleaning duration of 50-200 msec. Compressed gas is fed to each series of filter tubes from reservoir 29 at a pressure of 6 to 8 atmospheres by opening of magnet-controlled valves 28 to allow gas from the reservoir into lines 27.
