In a composite ski, the top lamina comprises a transparent material having a tear resistance 25 kp/mm2 and a modulus of elasticity above 2000 kp/mm2. That side of the top lamina facing the core or the adjacent lamina is printed upon on that side remote from the core. The transparent material is a glass-fibre-reinforced plastics, e.g. epoxy, polyester. This construction enables skis to be provided with printed indicia e.g. a manufacturer's logos, without risk of it being damaged or obliterated by wear and tear of scratches.
