PATENT APPLICATIONForHEAT UNIT INTEGRATOR FOR X-RAY TUBESByJohn T. PerryJoel J. SchmutzerABSTRACTApparatus to indicate the temperature of an X-raytube target includes an analog storage circuit to simulatethe heat energy stored. Input signals representing thecurrent and the voltage of the electron beam in the tube aremultiplied to give a signal representing the instantaneouspower input. The power signal is integrated in the storagecircuit to give a temperature signal representing the totalheat. input. The temperature signal is dissipated by acooling curve circuit representing the heat loss with time.An indicator reads the temperature signal.Input voltage and current signals are processed torefer them to ground before multiplication. The currentsignal is corrected to set its zero value. The voltagesignal derived from a transformer primary is corrected fortransformer regulation. To eliminate spurious inputs thepower signal is gated to the storage circuit only when ameasured current is flowing. Multiple storage circuitsindicating a number of tubes remember the temperature oftheir own targets while the power signal and the temperatureindicator are being used with another storage circuit.- 1 -
