Process for reducing environmentally polluting odours of organic wastes

Environmentally polluting odours from organic wastes or waste waters originating from metabolic processes or from industrial, organic processes are reduced by treating the aforementioned wastes with an acidic, aqueous solution containing water-soluble, oxidising compounds and a water-soluble precipitant. The oxidising compounds are suitably nitrates, chlorates and permanganates of ammonium and alkali metals. The precipitants are suitably water-soluble iron(II) compounds and iron(III) compounds.
