A flame simulator used for testing the flame monitor and ensuring its corrent functioning, is switched on for a short period before every starting up of the burner system. The switching system of the flame relay is controlled in such a manner that the burner is fully operated only if the flame relay responds to the correct flame simulation. The flame is de-energised after responding. The flame sensor is an ionisation sensor and the flame simulator is a simulated ionisation system with a resistor and a diode. The simulator is connected by a timing unit to a temp. regulator.
