The slip ring for the wiper of a stepping switch makes sliding contact on the upper and lower faces with a double prong slider. The ring itself is mounted on a cylindrical body and has two overlapping mushroom shaped hollow capping electrodes conveying current through their walls to the feed cable. The slipring is made from two section welded together with the seams at the top and bottom points respectively of the overlapping curved surfaces. There is also an in and outlet passage for a cooling liquid. The feed cable is pushed through the base linking up with the cooling medium.
