The switch, for a transformer stage windings, has the fixed contact stud, connected to the end of the coarse winding, situated above the contact stud coupled to the end of the fine winding. The two contacts are separated by an isolator. Arranging the contacts in this way means that contacts having the greatest potential difference are located one above the other and therefore the max. insulation is only required for these contacts. The distance between contacts 2 and 15 can be chosen to be much smaller than the distances 1/13 and 15/12. Whether the distance 2/15 should be larger or smaller than the other spacings 2/4, 3/5 etc. depends upon case conditions.
