The switching system is intended for level or temperature control. It carries magnets (1, 2) on the shaft (3), which are provided with several poles on their faces. The magnets are mounted opposite a moving armature (4) with a magnet (5) so that the slightest movement of the magnets results in a pole change, resulting in attraction or repulsion of the armature magnet. After this step follows a snap-action switching movement, while the switching armature (4) is magnetically locked in each switching position. Preferably the magnet of the switching armature does not generate any effective torque on the magnets mounted on the shaft so that only a slight actuating force is required for effective switching.
