The digital communications system has a 2-bit frame identification word attached to the front of the message bits. The quasi-random generators at the transmitter and the receiver are reset at the start of each frame. At the receiver frame identification words occurring simultaneously in the incoming bit streams at the transmitter receiver. The coding of the bit stream at the transmitter is accomplished by a suitably chosen quasi-random sequence which at the receiver simulates an incorrect sum frame identification word using a continuous 'O' or '1'.
