A water-in-oil emulsifier mixt. consists of : (A) a partial ester of a polyhydric alcohol contg. 3-6 OH gps. in molecule and of a 16-18C fatty acid, which is liq. at room temp., and (B) an aq. soln. contg. 0.1-40 wt.% of =1 more of the following aminoacids and/or aminoacid salts: D-, L-, DL- and beta-alanine, glycine, D-, L- and DL- serine, -arginine. HCl, -histidine. HCl, -lysine. HCl, Na or K D-, L- or DL- aspartate mono- or di-hydrate, or -glutamate mono-hydrate. Wt. ratio (B): (A) is 1:1 to 1:46 (esp. 1 2 to 1:15). Cosmetic compsns. contain 5-30 wt.% of emulsifier mixt., which forms a lipophilic complex. A pref. cosmetic compsn. contains di-glyceryl-di-9-Me-heptadeconoate, L-serine and Na L-glutamate. Cosmetics include cleansing-, softening- and hand-creams or lotions, sun protective compsns., make-up sticks and ointments. The emulsions obtd. are stable; safe for use on skin; have a moist, fresh touch and affinity to skin. The amino-acids, or their salts, actiate the skin gland functions, strengthen skin tissues and have a high skin-physiological activity.
