The cross-country vehicle is able to be transformed readily into transportable and palletable block without detracting from the normal robustness and mobility. The vehicle comprises two structurally similar units coupled together by a hinge running across the vehicle. A tilting joint (14) coupling the two halves (10, 11) has a swivel hinge (17) and a locking unit (18) such that the roller joint (13) is located on the front vehicle half (10) and the tilting joint (14) on the rear half. The tilting joint is actively coupled to the vehicle brake unit.
