A machine with multiple cutting heads is used to produce a number of identical articles from a common master pattern and has a pantograph linkage to achieve a straight line motion in the horizontal plane. The cutting heads (2) are mounted on a transverse beam (3) with its ends attached to a pair of levers (7). Each lever (7) is attached to a parallelogram linkage with four equal links (8). The opposite corner of the parallelogram is pivoted on the end of a lever (9) of length (K) with its other end pivoted on a shaft (10) mounted on the frame of the machine. The other two corners of the parallelogram are pivoted on the ends of levers (11). The lower ends of these levers are pivoted on a common shaft (12) which is mounted a distance (K), which is equal to the length of the lever (9), below the shaft (10).
