The flush-fitting locking mechanism has a cylindrical lock with a series of locking pins working in drillings in a lengthwise row. The pins are thrust by the insertion of a key into a position where their faces are in the plane between cylinder core and cylinder housing. An additional lock (21) has a drilling (23) in the cylinder housing (1) parallel to the cylinder axis. In this drilling the taper end (26) of a spring-loaded (22) pin (24) is held against the taper end (27) of a transverse pin (29). The latter pin is accommodated in a drilling (28) in the transverse plane of one of the drillings for the locking pins in the cylinder core (2), and offset from the locking pin drillings in the cylinder housing.
