The power pack is based on a blocking tranformer whose primary winding (1a) is connected through a periodicaly operated switch to a d.c. voltage source and its secondary winding (b) through a first rectifier to the output terminals in parallel with a smoothing filter. A third winding (1c) is possibly connected through a second rectifier to the d.c. voltage source. A controllable rectifier valve (7) is in parallel with the secondary winding (1b). It is controlled in accordance with the output voltage (Ua). The valve (7) is typically a thyristor.
