Unrolling strip splicing machine - has parting mechanism holder for remainder moving between splicing positions

The machine splices the leading edge of a strip from one roll to the trailing edge of that from another using an overlapping joint with a connecting strip adhesive on both sides. Two positioning mechanisms spaced apart alternately hold ready the leading edge from a new roll and the moving strip is parted off from the remainder on its roll. Two splicing devices move together to make the join. The parting mechanism (37) has a holder (31) securing the remainder of the travelling strip (6a, 6b) after parting and which moves to and fro between the splicing positions on the positioning mechanisms.
