The large-area heater is assembled from a number of plates, each comprising a layer of insuating material, on whose surface is a plate of heat-conductive and radiating material, pref. aluminium, with heater pipes secured to it by clips. The pipes (10) fit in trough-shaped recesses (11) in the surface of the plate (8), whose profile matches that of the pipes. The trough depth is at the most three times at the plate thickness. the pipe clips (9) can be U-shaped, shaped internally to fit against the pipes, while the transverse portion (14) joining the two arms (12, 13) is flat on the outside.
