The ball cage has six endless rows of balls. Each row comprises an axial loaded section (10) open at the inner and outer sides, and an unloaded section (12) open at the outer side only. The sections are joined by semicircular paths. The cage is fixed to a housing and accepts a movable shaft (52). Pairs of adjacent loaded sections have their outer sides covered by a thin walled flexurally elastic insert (22) accepting the radial loading and abutting the housing bore. The inserts have peripheral flaps to prevent the loss of balls from the unloaded sections.
