The controller switches the output transistor at line frequency. The collector of the transistor is connected in series with the primary winding of the transformer. The winding load inductance, capacitors and diodes create a magnetic flux varying in sawtooth form. Secondary windings provide the receiver operating voltage, the deflecting current and the high voltage. The deflecting current may alternatively be taken from the primary winding. Drawing the line deflecting current direct from the transformer eliminates the normal horizontal sweep circuit, thus reducing cost and complexity.
