Flexible swathe-forming belt on rotary mower - is positioned near one end of cutter-bar and driven by two vertical cylinders

The rotary mower has a cutter-bar (1) with elongated case (2) supporting cutter-plates (3) around which are mounted cutter-blades (4). Near one end of the cutter-bar (1) is a flexible swathe-forming belt (5) guided by two roughly vertical cylinders (8, 9) one (8) of which is preferably coaxial with the cutter-plate (3) nearest the end of the cutter-bar (1). The distance separating the axes (10, 11) of the guide-cylinders (8, 9) is greater than that separating the axes of the two adjacent cutter-plates (3). The second guide-cylinder (9) of the belt is freely pivot-mounted on an axle behind the cutter-bar (1), and joined to the casing (2) by an adjusting-mechanism (13) which regulates the tension of the belt.
