The attachment is drawn behind a tractor and comprises a chassis (1) on wheels (2). Between these are several sets of blades (3) which support uproot the sugar beet from the ground. These roots pass upwards onto two horizontal wheels, rotating towards each other. These have curved spokes, forming a grille to remove soil. This is dropped onto a similar smaller wheel (41) beneath the larger wheels and overlapping them. The soil is spread over the ground, filling in the furrows to provide a flat surface for the roots as they are ejected behind the machine. Deflectors form a straight row, easily picked up later.
