Sugar basin with a lid is for use in public eating and drinking places. It consists of a basin which is angled (36) so that its front part (37) is lower than its back (38). When open this ensures a large 'V' shaped opening. The lid (45) is in fact the almost exact shape in reverse of the basin to which it is hinged (43, 45g). The lid is provided with an upper and lower lip fitting over the edge of the basin when closed (50). These lips make it possible for powdered sugar to be scooped up with a teaspoon without spillage or wastage.
