Mechanical impurities removal from dielectric fluids - by passage between electrodes having recesses therebetween for collection of impurities

Method comprises flowing the fluid in an electric field along an unobstructed path defined by channels or openings in a series of spaced flat electrodes. The electrodes have collection surfaces extending laterally from edges of the openings forming with an adjacent electrode a collection chamber. The mechanical impurities collect in the chambers. Used for treatment of dielectric fluids, such as e.g. jet fuel, gasoline, hydraulic fluids, lubricants, etc. The collection chambers prevent removal of deposited particles by fluid flow.
