Boot iron for mountain climbing - has spring steel strips to connect adjustable front, rear and side portions all fitted with spikes and strap loops

The boot iron is used for mountain climbing and is adjustable for length and width in order to fit any size boot. It comprises front and rear portions, joined together by means of adjustable perforated spring steel strips (A', B') locked together by a bolt (7). the side pieces (c, d) are similarly adjustable in a direction perpendicular to that of the front and rear portions. All parts are equipped with spikes (1) on their under-surfaces. Loops (2) are also provided on top for use with straps over the boots, stops (3, 4) being fitted at the front, the rear and on each side.
