The treatment is employed to enable a person to dispense with the smoking habit and uses a mechanical stage in conjunction with a medicament stage. The mechanical process consists of a small ring, its bore permitting it to slide along the length of a cigarette. The medicament process involves the use of anti-smoking pastilles, these being taken in the normal manner. Depending on the stage of treatment reached, the ring is adjusted progressively towards the front of the cigarette, denoting the permitted smoking limit at which the cigarette is to be extinguished.
