The slidable wedge-lock (3) includes a pivoting cam (4) for fine adjustment and is for utilisation on telescopic props for the construction industry. The mechanism may lock two intersliding members (1, 2) of rectangular hollow section in any desired relationship within a permitted range of alternative combined lengths, and the cam permits and additional extension (A) promoting an axial propping force. The wedge-lock may comprise twin parallel triangular plates (5) connected by transverse pins (6, 7) at two of the apices. The pin interval allows the unit to slide on the prim. member (1) unless their common plane is angled to the normal to the member axis. The cam (9) may be pinned (8) to the remaining apex, may be rotatable by hand lever (13), and contacts (12) the bevelled end faces of the sec. member (2).
