The signalling lamp for roadway use e.g. in the event of a breakdown of a vehicle has a flat bottomed rectangular casing (10) holding a battery in each corner. This has a central conical part projecting upwards with the flashing lamp (2) on top, terminating in a carrying handle. The interior is partly hollow with a tapered inner wall (7) forming a recess so that the lamp can be fitted over the top of a conventional conical roadway marker. The side of the housing also incorporates a clamping strap (20) fitted with screws (19) for length adjustment and including a lock. Thus the lamp can be suspended from a post, placed on a roadway marker or stood on its flat base.
