The post (1) deforms elastically under vehicle impact, adopting a two-hinged deflected form which snags the underside of an illegally parked vehicle. The post may comprise three co-axial tubular pieces of identical cross section, a base piece (4) extending vertically from a base plate (7), a short intermediate piece (3) and a relatively long top piece (2) with a capping plug (8). The pieces are assembled end to end without any mechanical connection, a spring (R) extending between internal cross bars (5, 6) in the top and bottom pieces to secure the assembly.
