METAL-CONTAINING DISAZOMETHINE COMPOUNDS AND PROCESS FOR PREPARING THEM

Metal-containing disazomethine compounds are prepared by condensing 1 mol of one or more diamines of the formula II H2N - R - NH2 (II in which R is a single bond, a straight-chain or branched alkylene radical, which may be interrupted by hetero atoms, a divalent group or an isocyclic or heterocyclic ring or is a cycloalkylene radical, an arylene radical or a heterocyclic radical, with 2 mol of one or more compounds of the formula III IMAGE in which X is a carboxylic acid, carboxylic ester, substituted or unsubstituted carboxamide or carbohydrazide group, and simultaneous or subsequent metallisation of the disazomethine compound obtained. These novel compounds are suitable for use as yellow pigments in printing pastes, printing inks, high-molecular-weight plastic compositions, coatings, paints or spinning compositions. They are light-, weather- and solvent-fast and heat-resistant; they exhibit high colour strength and good transparency.
