PURPOSE:To provide a title composition useful as rubber-reinforcing fibers, etc. by adding phenolic heat-resistant agent to modified polyester essentially consisting of polyethylene terephthalate whose rigidity is improved by addition of aromatic diamine, etc. CONSTITUTION:During the stage of melt condensation of polyethylene terephthalate or polyester essentially consisting thereof, the compounds (A), or (A) plus (B), or the reaction product of (A) and (B) is added in amount of 0.5-20wt% of the polyester to produce a modified polyester, to which 0.01-5wt% of phenol-based heat- resistant agent is compounded to provide a heat-resistant modified polyester composition. The compound (A) is H2N-X-NH2, piperadine, or their derivatives, the compound (B) is HOOC-Y-COOH or its derivatives (wherein X and Y are 1,4- phenylene; 2,6-naphthylene; 2,6-anthrylene, or divalent organic gp. contg. the above.)
