CONSTITUTION:The members 8 and 8' on a disc, which constitute a detector, are made of a solid electrolyte such as zirconia and are laid one on the other with their recessed sides facting each other thereby to form a hermetical hollow portion 9. If the detector is placed in hot gases Px to be measured, the member 8 functions as an oxygen battery so that signals corresponding to the difference in the oxygen concentration between the gases Px and the gases in the portion 9 are detectecd and can be read out by an indicator 6. At this time, the gases in the portion 9 are discharged from the communicating pipe 10 and are replaced by the oxygen gases in the gases to be measured. As a result, since the portion 9 is continuously supplied with pure oxygen gases, the detection signals obtained accurately correspond to the concentration of the gases Px.
