The web passes on a water-proof endless belt conveyor (pref. of rubber) beneath a pref. cylindrical metal mesh screen in the interior of which are located a suction chamber and liquid treatment chamber. The web passes firstly under a pref. elongate vent of the suction chamber and then under the outlet of the treatment chamber so that treatment fluid passes through the screen and impregnates the web. Excess liquid is sucked through the vent into the suction chamber from where it may be recirculated back to the liquid treatment chamber. The appts. is used for dyeing, bleaching, finishing etc. A complete and uniform impregnation is achieved using less treatment fluid and in reduced processing periods.
