Gas-liquid separation in co-current wet scrubbers - utilising inclined spaced baffles below the wet scrubbing zone

The gas which has become entrained in the scrubbing liquid of a co-current flow wet scrubber is de-entrained by inclined, spaced baffle plates located below the scrubbing zone. The liquid wets the plates and forms a liquid layer which is discharged at their ends to a sump. The released gas flows for separate collection. Efficient separation even with the high flows associated with co-current scrubbing is achieved.
