Abstract of the Disclosure.alpha.-Alkylbenzyl alcohol and substituted .alpha.-alkyl-benzyl alcohols are converted in high yield and purity tostyrene and substituted styrenes by contacting the alcoholin vapor phase with silica gel and steam.
