The system is intended for remote control of a ship's Diesel engine with compressed air starting and variable speed from a number of control stations (e.g. the bridge, control cabin in engine room, and at the engine). It comprises a central pneumatic logic system which receives a speed command and a rotation direction command and passes these to pneumatic relays to position the engine cam shaft and to determine the start flow direction. - The sytem contains distributors which supervise the cam shaft position and actuate a relay with OR-function, feeding a pneumatic multivibrator whose output pulses are counted by a relay assembly. The latter operates the starter at each attempt until the engine starts ora predetermined number of attempts is made.
