The mechanism to form a fix thermoplastic material into spiral coils for the teeth of a sliding clasp fastener has a carrier wheel with a second carrier wheel with its pressure edge at an angle to it, both wheels rotating synchronously. The fastener coils on the mandrel lie in the vertex between the two wheels. The sonotrode to deliver ultrasonic energy lies in the vertex zone between the two wheels, and the fastener coils to pivot vertically to the coil support mandrel. The design gives homogenous sonic field to provide even and consistent heating effect on thermoplastic material.
