Laundry is dried in a drier, having a drum supplied with heated air and a moisture condenser, by recirculating the drying air during heating up and removing of moisture before starting the drying cycle, during which, when the laundry has reached a preselected degree of dryness one part of the drying air is recirculated through the condenser and another part is exhausted into atmos. and replaced by fresh air. In a latter part of the cycle determined by a further preselected degree of dryness, the condenser is shut off, the fresh air is heated an on passing through the drier is exhausted into atmos. Drying is effective and economical.
