A hook for the suspension of animla carcasses from loops in railway wagons and lorries consists of a flat part between the curved hook part and the rail suspension part. The flat part has the width of the strap from which the loop is formed, and is surmounted by a lug, leaving a gap smaller than the strap width. The lower edge of the lug lies above the flat part but also lower than the highest point of the hook part. This prevents the carcasses from dropping off the hooks by jolts during transport by road or rail.
