A coin channel for coins of different diameters is esp. for use with coin-operated telephones. The channel takes coins from an insertion slot down an inclined path to a coin tester. The channel has a leteral guide (6-8) inclined to the vertical and separated by a gap from the base (2-4) along which the coins roll. The gap is smaller than the radius of the smallest coin involved and only the top part of the coin is guided as it moves along the channel. The channel may have a curve followed by a second sections (15-17) also with a gap between the base and the side wall.
